bun mee: sfo terminal three

project details

For SFO Terminal Three’s installment of the popular Vietnamese sandwich eatery, zero ten design combined the charm of Bun Mee’s original Fillmore Street restaurant with the modern vibe and intensity of Market Street, again featuring a large format mural designed to engage and catch the eye of the flurry of travelers that pass by daily.

Natural white oak detailing, a corrugated metal counter face, and stone countertop all help to create a modern urban street vibe, while the glass tile mural backdrop serves to grab the eye of passersby. The feature wall mosaic, created by local artist Phillip Hua, is made up of over four hundred unique eight inch square glass tiles, that, when viewed from afar, create a colorful representation of Mama Tran, the mother of owner Denise Tran, who was the source inspiration for the Bun Mee concept.
