potrero hill remodel
project details
Our clients had recently purchased this fixer-upper in Potrero Hill. The house was in serious disrepair. zero ten design was tasked with bringing it back to life and making it a bright, open home for a young couple, their five year old son, and their cat.
With a tight budget and schedule, we focused on simple, impactful moves. We opened the floor plan by removing key walls and adding larger windows, doors, and skylights wherever possible. These changes transformed the home. Paired with the clients’ choice of wide plank whitewashed oak flooring, the interior now feels light, open, and more spacious than its footprint suggests.
We then focused on the center of the house. The kitchen had low ceilings, 1970s appliances, and water-stained plywood cabinets, all enclosed in a room cut off from the rest of the home. We saw a chance to make it the heart of the house. We raised the ceiling to 11 feet, added a central island, and introduced bold blue accents. The result is a state of the art kitchen that respects the home's character while marking a clear new chapter.
